Comparative Criminal Law and Process / Порівняльне кримінальне право і процес (2 МП англ)

The course introduces students to the criminal law matters of the most important jurisdictions worldwide in order to equip students with the ability to compare and contrast different criminal systems across the globe, based on acquired in-depth understanding of the general principles of criminal liability, including rationales for punishment, the role and design of modern criminal codes, the general structure of criminal liability, notion of mens rea and actus reus, and the rights that criminal law and process is designed to protect.

The criminal law frameworks of such countries as France, Germany, Ukraine, United Kingdom and United States will be studied in detail, with special attention to be paid to France and Germany.
